Gimp gets user friendly

by Evil Buck on April 1, 2005

Scott Moschella has made his own Gimp.app for OS X users. The difference between his and the one provided by Mac Gimp or the fink and darwinports versions… his has been retooled to look like photoshop.
The menus and tools have been renamed to resemble photoshop tools and menu options. The shortcuts have been reworked as well. I’m usually not a big gimp user as I’m very fast with photoshop and get frustrated with Gimp very easily, but this could change that. I’ve used this version of Gimp a little and I must say it’s pretty thorough. The shortcut changes alone make this very usable for production work now. Since the most popular DTP app is photoshop I think this is a definite plus for the application.
I can definitely recommend this for any photoshop user looking to explore Gimp, or just willing to ditch his pirated copy of photoshop.
