I’m really displeased the service I have received at a local auto dealer. Namely Schumacher Automotive at 3270 Northlake Blvd. Lake Park, FL 33403. From the time I purchased my car to the service I have received with the car’s maintenance and various problems. Let me jump to my most recent experience with them and I’ll Tarentino back.
I purchased dealer extended warranty when I purchased the car. Don’t ever buy one of these!
I have a security light coming on in my 2002 camaro and the car won’t turn over. Basically the ignition cylinder took a crap and needed to be replaced. I had the car towed in to the dealer because I have a warranty and I assumed (ass - u - me, I know) this would be covered in the warranty. When I arrive and walk up to the drive up sales for service man and tell him the car that is getting dropped off by the flatbed tow truck is mine. His first response was, “We don’t work on chevy’s!”. My retort was, “I bought it here and I bought the warranty here.” He proceeded to write up the repair sheet. Near the end of the write up he tells me there is a one hundred dollar deductible for any repairs. I tell him, “Actually it’s waived if I get the repairs done at the same dealership I bought the car from. And I bought it here.” He replies, “I’ve never heard of that.” I proceed to take out the contract for the warranty they sold and tell him I’ll show him. He tells me it’s not up to him, but the warranty company. Basically they do not stand by the products they push!
About 6 hours later I receive a call telling me it’s the ignition cylinder that needs replaced and a new set of keys with it - $575 and it’s not covered under warranty. What!?!!! So I read this piece of shit warranty they sold me. Clearly under the Electronics it states it covers “Ignition Control Module”. At this point a good service person would give the warranty company they endorse a call and prove how it is covered. This person only tells me to take it up with the warranty company and leaves it at that. (I’ll come back to that phone call in a different post.) I feel if I have to pay, I’ll use the VAT bypass that is floating around the web and save $575.
Well, the part wasn’t under warranty. So I basically asked them if they could stick their head between their legs. I am returning the warranty to the dealer and paying for any work that needs done that way. If it’s not obvious already, I would never endorse or recommend this dealership to anyone. You would have to get a hell of a deal on the car and even then I would consider what condition the car is in. They will never stand by it and only fight for the businesses they’re in bed with instead of the customers that keep them in business.
